Los Angeles: On May 8, 2003, at 8:40 p.m., police officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Division rushed to the scene of a shooting at Vine Street and Yucca Street. At the scene, the officers saw 37 year-old Jose Castillo, a male Hispanic, lying on the ground with several gunshot wounds.
Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics took Castillo to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Witnesses told the police that two male Hispanics walked up to Castillo as he was crossing the street. Both shooters fired a gun many times at Castillo, who fell to the sidewalk wounded. The assailants then ran to a waiting vehicle and escaped.
The first suspect is an 18-20 year old male Hispanic, 5’6’’, weighing about 160 pounds, with short hair. The second suspect is an 18-19 year old male Hispanic, 6’0", thin build with short hair. The vehicle is a white 4-door Cadillac.
The Los Angeles City Council authorized a $10,000.00 reward for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the persons who viciously murdered Jose Castillo.
