Robbery-Homicide Detective Honored for 44 years of Service

On Tuesday, February 1, 2000, at 10:00 am, Detective III Jack Giroud, Robbery-Homicide Division, will be honored in a brief ceremony celebrating 44 years of exemplary service with the Los Angeles Police Department. The ceremony will be held in the Robbery-Homicide Division Squad Room, located in Room 321 at Parker Center.

Detective Giroud has been assigned to Robbery-Homicide Division since June 10, 1962. He is the second, most-tenured, sworn member of the Police Department. Known throughout law enforcement as "Mr. Robbery," Detective Giroud has been personally responsible for the apprehension and successful prosecution of countless robbery, kidnap, and extortion suspects.

Detective Giroud has most recently been responsible for solving the "Lottery Ticket Bandit", the "Mini Market Splasher", and the "Sunglass Bandit" cases, along with solving and arresting the key suspects in a series of travel agency robberies.

Detective Jack Giroud is, quite simply, one of the finest Robbery Detectives ever to serve as a member of The Los Angeles Police Department. We wish him many more years of outstanding service.
