"Robbery Victim Arms Himself With A Knife And One Attacker Dies"
Los Angeles: On Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 9:11 p.m., Rampart patrol officers responded to an "Assualt with a deadly weapon" radio call at 246 North Carondelet Street. Upon the officers arriving, they observed a male Hispanic on the sidewalk, covered with blood. Officers conducted a search of the area and found a second stabbing victim sitting on the curb at the coroner of Temple Street and Coronado Street. The second victim was suffering from stab wounds to the upper torso. He was transported to USC Medical Center by Fire Department Paramedics for emergency treatment.

Upon the officers arriving, they observed a male Hispanic on the sidewalk, covered with blood. Officers conducted a search of the area and found a second stabbing victim sitting on the curb at the coroner of Temple Street and Coronado Street. The second victim was suffering from stab wounds to the upper torso. He was transported to USC Medical Center by Fire Department Paramedics for emergency treatment.
The investigation revealed that a male Hispanic was inside the market at Temple Street and Coronado Street. He was confronted by two male Hispanics who demanded his money and beer. He refused to comply and exited the market. As he left the market he was assaulted by the two males from inside the market. During the attack, he armed himself with a knife and stabbed one of the attackers in the upper torso. The second suspect grabbed the beer and ran from the location in a southbound direction. The victim chased the suspect down and an altercation ensued. During this altercation the victim stabbed the suspect in the chest area. The victim was then cornered by a group of gang members who beat and kicked him as he lay on the ground.
The second victim who was stabbed by the victim was placed in a vehicle by unknown persons and transported to Queen of Angels Hospital and died as a result of his wounds. He has been identified as Jose Aguirre, approximately 24 years of age.
The first suspect who sustained stab wounds was transported to USC Medical Center and treated for his wounds. He is listed in stable but serious condition. He has been booked for murder in connection with the death of Jose Aguirre which occurred during the commission of the robbery. Pedro Hernandez, the intended victim of the robbery, was also booked for the murder of Jose Aguirre.
