On the anniversary of our nation’s second most deadliest school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, the Builders of Jewish Education, and the New Community Jewish High School will be hosting a “Seconds Count K-12 Active Shooter Response Training” put on by the LAPD Topanga Area Training Cadre.

Most school active shooter incidents are over in 10 minutes or less, so the school’s response to such an event is critical. Seconds count in saving lives. The goal of this training is to promote awareness of school safety issues in relation to an active shooter event and empower the school to rapidly and effectively respond to the emergency.

The training includes:
•    Five ways to prevent an active shooter incident at your school;
•    What to do during an active shooter event on campus;
•    Tips for handling the aftermath of a violent event on campus; and,
•    “Hands on” lockdown drills in a real-life classroom environment.
