San Pedro: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Harbor Area Homicide Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for the shooting death of 17-year-old Kayla Yolanda Huerta.
On June 18, 2018, at 2:25 a.m., Kayla Yolanda Huerta was inside of a vehicle when an unknown person shot Ms. Huerta, fatally wounding her. The vehicle that Ms. Huerta was in, rolled forward and came to rest against a block wall in the 700 block of West Sepulveda Street in the city of San Pedro. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to render aid; however, Ms. Huerta did not respond and was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives have no leads on a vehicle description or suspect(s) and are asking for the public’s help.
