"Shooting Victim in Foothill Division Remains in Critical Condition"
 

Los Angeles – On Sunday, June 3, 2001, at 3:30 A.M., Foothill Area patrol officers responded to a radio call of an "Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW), Shots fired investigation, at Holy Cross Hospital. Upon arrival, the officers met with the victims of the shooting. One victim, Jimmy Munoz, a 23 year-old resident of Pacoima, had been struck by gunfire and transported to the hospital by his friends, who had also been shot at. Doctors at Holy Cross listed Munoz in critical condition.
Witnesses told officers that the shooting occurred near Richie Valens Park in the area of Haddon Street and Paxton Street, in the Pacoima area of Foothill Division. An investigation revealed that the victim was walking through the pedestrian tunnel when an unknown suspect approached the victim and opened fire. The location is an area where gang members and "tagging crews" congregate.
