WHY: The purpose of the Sober Graduation and Street Racing press conference is to raise awareness of the perils and consequences of teen impaired and reckless driving. Central Traffic Division’s Traffic Safety Unit and Street Racing Team have been actively engaged in addressing these problems through community education and strict enforcement. The goal of the Los Angeles Police Department is to reduce the incidence of traffic collisions, particularly collisions that are likely to result in serious bodily injury or death. The Los Angeles Police Department seeks to achieve these goals through education, enforcement, and public awareness.
