Stabbing Leaves One Dead in Downtown Los Angeles – NR23672jc

On September 9, 2023, around 9:13 p.m., Randy Nash, was taken into custody near the 1000 block of West 85th Street. Randy was booked  for 187 PC – Murder, and his bail is set at $2,000,000.00 (Booking No. 6675176).

Pershing Square:  Los Angeles Police Department Central Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for killing 23-year-old Jesse Rodriguez.

On September 7, 2023, around 5:20 p.m., Transit Services Division officers were standing on the platform of the Pershing Square Station when they were alerted of a stabbing that occurred on the train.  Officers located the victim suffering from an apparent stab wound. Officers  began to render aid to the victim and requested the response of emergency medical services.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation revealed the victim was on the train when he was approached by the suspect who was armed with a knife.  Without warning or provocation, the suspect stabbed the victim in the upper torso and fled the train on foot.

The suspect is described as a male Black, thin build, with a mustache and goatee, standing approximately six feet two inches tall.  He was wearing a black wave cap, black long sleeve shirt, dark colored pants, black shoes, and carrying a black Puma backpack.
