Statement From the Los Angeles Police Commission

"STATEMENT FROM THE LOS ANGELES POLICE COMMISSION"
 
In reference to a recent quote which appeared in the Daily News, the members of the Los Angeles Police Commission issued the following statement:
"On September 11, 2001, Chief Bernard Parks led the Los Angeles Police Department in assessing the threat of imminent danger from terrorist attack and deploying City resources for the public good. To compare him to a murderous madman like Osama bin Laden at a time of national crisis is insulting and offensive. The Board of Los Angeles Police Commission would like to state for the record that the Chief does not deserve this type of vilification."
At the Police Commission meeting today, John Mack from the Los Angeles Urban League, Danny Bakewell from the Brotherhood Crusade, and Jerry Edwards from the Eighth District Council, also expressed their concern and dismay over this comment. The Commission concurred with their statements.
