Statement Regarding Presentation of New Video Release Policy NR18059ti

Los Angeles: Body-worn and digital in-car video systems have been important components in the LAPD’s comprehensive approach to gather valuable digital evidence to hold suspects accountable in a court of law, understand the facts and circumstances of uses of force, and investigate officers accused of misconduct. The Department looks forward to continuing to work with the Commission, the Police Protective League and our community to implement a release policy that enables the community to understand the circumstances of critical incidents without compromising these important objectives.
