Statement Regarding S.W.A.T Lawsuit NR20185jc

The Department is reviewing a lawsuit alleging retaliation and misconduct within LAPD’s SWAT unit. Some of the claims were previously brought to the Department’s attention and investigated in a personnel complaint. Based on that investigation, the Department modified the SWAT selection process. However, the lawsuit makes additional allegations. We find these allegations deeply concerning and will conduct a thorough investigation. The Department is committed to rooting out misconduct at all levels and ensuring that every individual’s civil rights are protected. Additionally, understanding potential workplace issues and ensuring a respectful and healthy work environment for all employees remains a priority for the Department.
