Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is seeking the public’s help in locating the stepfather of a 7-year-old boy who was found brutally murdered at his residence.
On July 23, 2009, at around 6:35 p.m., LAPD officers responded to the 800 block of East 87th Place where Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics had been summoned to an apartment residence. At the location, officers and paramedics found the body of a deceased 6-year-old boy with multiple, unexplained injuries to his body in various stages of healing. The stepparent of the child was the last known caretaker of the boy, but was not at the location when paramedics and officers arrived.
The whereabouts of the child’s stepfather, Marcas Fisher, who was the child’s primary caretaker, could not be established at the time of discovery. However, Fisher has been identified as a primary suspect in the murder. Detectives also determined that he and the child had been temporarily living at the apartment, which belonged to a friend.
LAPD detectives have partnered with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, and a warrant has been issued for Fisher’s arrest. The District Attorney’s Office is also considering filing criminal charges on specific individuals who may be harboring the suspect or interfering with the criminal investigation. Currently, detectives believe Fisher is somewhere between South Los Angeles and Long Beach.
Photographs of Marcas Fisher are available from LAPD Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
