Los Angeles: On Thursday, January 27, 2005, the Mayor’s Office along with the Office of the Chief Legislative Analyst will be hosting a community meeting where they will present a proposal for how best to analyze Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) stop data.
In late 2001, the LAPD embarked upon a project of systematically collecting information on motor vehicle and pedestrian stops made by its officers. The City of Los Angeles is currently reviewing a report prepared by Analysis Group, Inc., an independent contractor. The analysis of the LAPD stop data is part of an ongoing effort to ensure effective, respectful and non-discriminatory policing.
To assist in this review, the City invites public comment on the analysis proposal. The analysis proposal, entitled “Proposed Pedestrian and Motor Vehicle Stop Data Analyses Methodology Report,” may be viewed on the City’s website (http://www.lacity.org/lapdstops) or a hard copy at any Los Angeles Public Library.
The City appreciates your interest in this very important effort and welcomes your input.
