Los Angeles: Southwest Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of 28 year-old Devron La Vell Lewis.
On Friday, March 28, 2003, at approximately 11:00 p.m., victim Lewis was driving eastbound on Jefferson Boulevard in his 1992 Chevrolet Caprice, when a unidentified suspect shot and killed him.
According to witnesses, the suspect stepped out into the roadway and began shooting at Lewis’ vehicle for no apparent reason. The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced Lewis dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Lewis was employed by MTA as a mechanic and had just gotten off work prior to this incident. The investigation thus fas has revealed that Lewis was the innocent victim of senseless street violence.
The suspect has been described as a male Hispanic, 17 to 22 years of age, 5’ 8", and 160 pounds. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.
