Suspect Arrested after Killing Two Dogs and Injuring Another NR23008jl

Sun Valley: Los Angeles Police Department detectives from Foothill Division have arrested a 45-year-old Sun Valley resident for Animal Cruelty.

On January 18, 2023, around 3:38 p.m., Los Angeles Police Department patrol officers from Foothill Division responded to a radio call of a “Home Invasion Robbery” occurring in the 9200 block of Cayuga Ave in the community of Sun Valley.

Witnesses advised that the suspect was in the backyard of a residence, armed with a knife and was possibly being attacked by dogs at the property. Witnesses updated Los Angeles Police Department Communications Division and advised that the suspect was also stabbing dogs at the location.

Officers made contact with the suspect and observed a knife in his right hand, as well as two deceased dogs in the yard. A use-of-force occurred, and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Officers made contact with the homeowners and learned that the suspect was a known relative who resided at the location.

The Suspect is identified as Sun Valley resident, Alexandro Flores, a 45-year-old male Hispanic. Flores was booked for 597(a)PC – Felony Animal Cruelty, Booking #6537259. His bail has been set at $60,000.

Two dogs were deceased at scene and a third was transported to a local animal shelter; its status is unknown at this time.
