Hollywood: Los Angeles Police Department officers arrested a suspect for felony vandalism following a protest in Hollywood Area.
On January 28, 2023, around 7:30 p.m., a group began to gather in the 1500 block of Vine Street in Hollywood. The group started to march through the surrounding area, walking in the roadway.
Around 8:15 p.m., a man dressed in all black clothing with a gray backpack, later identified as 22-year-old Ezequiel Riesgo, used a tool in his hand to shatter the window of a business in the 1500 block of Cahuenga Boulevard. After vandalizing the business, Riesgo continued to march with the group. In the 1600 block of Vine Street, Riesgo used spray paint to vandalize the wall of a business.
Following the end of the march, Riesgo was arrested by officers and transported to Hollywood Station. In the gray backpack Riesgo had been wearing during the march, there were tools commonly used for breaking windows and spray paint. Those items were booked as evidence.
Riesgo was booked for Felony Vandalism, 594(A)(3) Penal Code, Booking #6543033. Bail is set at $20,000.
