LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Thursday, April 29, 1999
On Tuesday, April 27, 1999 at approximately 9:00 a.m., a 17 year old male Hispanic and his 10 year old sister, returned home to 6100 block of 11th Avenue, where they lived with their parents and two other brothers. Using his key to open the locked front door of the second floor apartment, the pair stepped inside and discovered the bodies of their parents and two brothers, ages 4 and 16, at different locations through the residence.
Los Angeles City Fire Department Rescue Ambulance #66 arrived and pronounced each of the four victims dead with gunshot wounds to the head.
Physical evidence at the scene indicated that the 16-year-old son, who was found dead on the floor of his room with a revolver still in his hand, had shot and killed each of the four victims with a single gunshot to the head. He had obtained the weapon approximately two months earlier and had additional loose rounds of ammunition in his pocket. The father and son had been arguing recently over the son’s fragrant use of marijuana inside the apartment.
