Northridge: On March 24, 2023, at 12:50 a.m., patrol officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Area responded to a radio call of a burglary in-progress at a bicycle shop. Officers located a pickup truck and arrested two suspects responsible for commercial burglary.
Devonshire Burglary Detectives completed additional investigative work on this case and connected the two suspects to three additional bicycle shop burglaries in Devonshire Area since November 2022. A white cargo van with no license plates was used during the previous burglaries.
29-year-old Jose Figueroa, a resident of Los Angeles was booked for 459 PC- Commercial burglary, Booking No. 6574061. He is being held in custody on $70,000 bail.
40-year-old Ismael Contreras, a resident of Los Angeles was booked for 459 PC-Commercial burglary, Booking No. 657060. He is being held in custody on $20,000 bail.
The presence of surveillance video was instrumental in piecing these crimes together and helped to solidify criminal case filings for each suspect. The bicycles taken were high value items and Devonshire detective personnel are releasing video for law enforcement agencies that may have had similar thefts at bicycle shops. **Video can be viewed at www.LAPDOnline.org**
