SWAT to Deliver Toys at Orthopaedic Institute for Children with the Help of Santa Claus and Air Support NA14236js

WHAT:
LAPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Officers continue their annual holiday tradition of delivering toys to 2,000 kids at the Orthopaedic Institute for Children (OIC) with the help of Santa Claus and the Air Support Division.

WHEN:
Wednesday, December 10, 2014
10 a.m. – Santa Claus will hover over OIC in LAPD helicopter
10:10 a.m. – Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus arrive in SWAT vehicle to distribute toys
10:30 a.m. – Ortho Medical Magnet High School’s spirit clubs and band perform.

WHY:
Los Angeles Police Department’s SWAT officers will deliver toys collected from their annual holiday toy drive to approximately 2,000 children at the Orthopaedic Institute for Children.  Santa Claus will be joining the SWAT Team to make the delivery.  Santa will arrive via LAPD helicopter and then ride with officers in an armored SWAT vehicle to deliver the toys to the children.

This is the 20th anniversary of LAPD SWAT and OIC partnering to bring toys and joy to OIC’s patients.  Every holiday season, toy collection boxes are placed in the 21 LAPD stations where LAPD personnel and the community are able to donate.  Last month, SWAT also invited the public to donate toys to fill an LAPD Ballistically Engineered Armored Response (B.E.A.R.) vehicle in a “Fill The BEAR” event.
