Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations West Bureau Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for killing a teenager.
On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at around 10:30 p.m., a teenager was seated in the passenger seat of a parked vehicle on 7th Street near Berendo Street, when a male suspect approached the vehicle in what is believed to be an attempted robbery. The driver quickly drove away, and shots were fired. The teen was struck by the gunfire and the driver attempted to drive to the hospital. At Olympic Boulevard and Burlington Avenue he observed uniformed Los Angeles Police officers and stopped for assistance. The officers attempted life-saving measures and Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded. Despite the life-saving attempts, LAFD personnel pronounced the teen dead.
The male suspect was last seen fleeing 7th street on foot. The suspect is described as a male, Hispanic in his early twenties.
