WHY: The Community Safety Partnership program (CSP) is a collaboration between the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The mission of the program is to foster relationships with the residents in the housing communities by developing youth programs, address quality of life issues, and develop programs to address and reduce violent crimes. The VELO Sports Center offers an excellent opportunity to promote the current youth involvement by featuring a junior’s race. The Velo Sports Center is working in partnership with law enforcement and the community to provide kids with hope, encouragement, opportunity and recognition. This program provides students with an opportunity to have positive interactions with police officers by using indoor cycling as tool to build positive relationship between law enforcement and the community in which they serve.
