"Traffic Collision Claims Another Life"
 

Los Angeles: On Thursday, January 2, 2003 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Jose Alcaras, a 59 year-old resident of North Hollywood was driving a 1990 Dodge Van southbound Tujunga Avenue when Shandra Jai, a 51 year-old resident of Los Angeles was driving a 1999 Chevy Blazer eastbound Sherman Way collided with the right side of Alcara’s vehicle.
Jose Alcara was transported to a local Hospital where he died due to his injuries.
Shandra Jai was transported to a local hospital were she was treated for her injuries. Jai was then booked at Van Nuys Female Jail for 191.5 (A) PC, Vehicular Manslaughter DUI (Driving Under the Influence) with Gross Negligence. Jai’s bail was set at $100,000.
