"Two Drive-By Shootings Occur in Panorama City"
Panorama City – On June 14, 2000, at approximately 10:50 pm, Victim Felix Orlando Perez, a 27 year-old resident of Panorama City, was using a public telephone in the 13800 block of Roscoe Boulevard. One or possibly two male suspects approached the victim on foot and began firing several rounds toward the victim. Mr. Perez sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the upper body, and was transported to Holy Cross Hospital by ambulance were he died as a result of his injuries.
Approximately 20 minutes later, at 11:10 pm, two vehicles entered a shopping center parking lot in the area of the 8400 block of Cedros Avenue, in Panorama City. Two to four male suspects exited their vehicles and began firing multiple gun shots toward a group of individuals who were congregating near an apartment building entrance. Two victims were struck by the gunfire. One of the victims, an unidentified male, was struck an unspecified number of times in the upper body. He was transported to Holy Cross Hospital and remains in extremely critical condition. The second victim, identified as Elena Gonzales, a 22 year-old resident of Sylmar, was struck in the lower body. She was treated and released for minor gunshot wounds at Mission Community Hospital.
The suspects on both incidents are outstanding, and the motive for the incidents is unknown. The description of the suspects and possible vehicles remains under investigation as witnesses continue to be interviewed.
Detectives Robert Bogison and Bradford Cochran, Devonshire Operations Support Division are conducting the investigation on these incidents.
