Los Angeles: Central Area Homicide detectives are investigating the stabbing death of a Hispanic woman, approximately 55 years of age.
On Friday, December 2, 2005, about 8:00 AM, Central Area patrol officers responded to a downtown apartment in the 200 block of West 6th Street for a death investigation. Upon arrival officers were met by a hotel security guard who said he had found the victim in one of the rooms on the 5th floor. The security guard had received complaints from the residents on the 5th floor that a strange odor coming from room 536. He knocked on the door and received no response. He then entered the room using a pass key and saw a body lying on the floor in the advance stages of decomposition.
The decedent’s remains were turned over to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
Although the motive in this case remains unknown, homicide detectives are in the process of identifying witnesses.
