WHY:
West Valley Division has partnered with A Chance for Children and Water Buffalo Club to establish a Little Free Library inside the front lobby of West Valley Station. This library will function as an educational outreach for children and community members in the West San Fernando Valley. The Library builds a sense of community, promotes literacy and the love of books, by doing so we will be connecting our communities through reading.
In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a place full of books where any child may stop by and pick up a book or bring a book to share. West Valley Station Little Free Library is registered in a National Registry where community members can locate the library online. All books are free for children of all ages.
The Little Free Library will have a positive influence on community quality of life and provides a place for children to meet and get to know each other through community in the stations programs. To learn more about the opportunities with the Little Free Library you can visit www.littlefreelibrary.org. The books will be re-stocked through generous donations by non-profit organizations, community members, police officers and the local library.
