UPDATE: Mr. Dornheim, a Senior Engineer Editor for a magazine based in Los Angeles, was found dead in his car Monday at the bottom of a Malibu-area ravine.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies spotted the car of Michael Dornheim, 51, senior engineering editor for Aviation Week & Space Technology, while patrolling Malibu by helicopter about 12:45 p.m.
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Michael Arthur Dornheim. He was last seen on June 3, 2006, at the Saddle Peak Lodge restaurant in Calabasas, at about 10:30 p.m.
On June 3, 2006, Mr. Dornheim joined friends for dinner at the Saddle Peak restaurant. At about 10:30 p.m. he parted from his friends and said that he was going home. A friend said that Mr. Dornheim was planning to take the back road home, Coldwater Canyon to Mulholland Drive to the 101 Freeway. Mr. Dornheim has not been seen since.
Mr. Dornheim is a Senior Engineer Editor for a magazine based in Los Angeles. He is a nationally known aviation and space technology expert who has appeared on many network TV news programs over the past 22 years.
Mr. Dornheim is 51 years old and about 6’2" in height and weighs about 180 pounds, with blue eyes, and wears glasses. He has salt and pepper hair and a beard. Neighbors said that he is a very responsible man and always tell someone when he will be out of town. Neighbors said that they have not seen him or his car a 1997 Honda Civic 4 door, green in color, license plate 3VAF469.
