LAPD community event to promote traffic and pedestrian safety

Saturday June 11, 2005, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Where:
Valley Plaza Park
Located at the intersection of St. Clair Avenue and Hamlin Street, North Hollywood (North of Victory Boulevard, east of the 170 Fwy)
Why:
The purpose of the event is to promote traffic and pedestrian safety, as well as to provide the community with an opportunity to meet public safety officials and see first hand some of the equipment used to keep the streets safe.
This event will feature a bicycle safety course, static and interactive displays from the North Hollywood Area Bicycle Detail, Valley Traffic Division Motorcycle Units, off road motorcycles, a public safety helicopter, Los Angeles Fire Department Fire Trucks and black and white police cars. Mothers Against Drunk Driving will also display a car that was demolished as a result of a crash involving a drunk driver.
Additional:
Officers from Valley Traffic Division and the California Highway Patrol will conduct child safety seat inspections and give away bicycles, scooters, bicycle helmets and other protective gear.
