Vehicle Hits and Kills a Man NR19281ti

Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect involved in a fatal hit and run collision.

On Friday, October 18, 2019, around 3:00 a.m., a fatal traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Willoughby Avenue. A white late model Mercedes C300 or a similar vehicle was traveling northbound Highland Avenue when it collided with the pedestrian crossing westbound from the southeast corner of Highland Avenue and Willoughby Avenue.

The pedestrian, a 29-year-old male, died at the scene. The decedent has been positively identified by the Los Angeles County, Medical Examiner-Coroner. The decedent’s name has not been released pending family notifications.

The driver fled the scene failing to identify himself without stopping or rendering aid as required by law. Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
