WHAT: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Area will conduct its first ever “Walk a Cop to School” program event. Officers from Southwest Area have worked in partnership with the staff at 6th Ave Elementary School. Officers will pick up children at their homes, and walk them to school. Officers will be discussing traffic safety tips and answering questions during their walk to school.
WHEN: Wednesday, March 15, 2017 7:15-7:30 – Officers will pick up designated children from their homes.
WHERE: 6th Avenue School 3109 6th Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90016
**At Jefferson Boulevard and 4th and 5th Avenue / Officers will door knock various residences and pick up children for school.
**Media wanting to film officers knocking on the doors of children’s homes should meet at Jefferson Bl and 5th Ave at 7am.**
WHO: LAPD Captain Lee Sands, Southwest Area Patrol Commanding Officer Los Angeles Unified School District and the administrative staff at 6th Elementary School
WHY: The program is being established as part of the continuing community outreach to improve traffic safety awareness for children and the community.
