What: Sobriety Saturation Patrol When: Saturday, June 27, 2009 6:00 PM – 1:00 AM
Where: LAPD’s Harbor Division Who: South Traffic Division
Why: Despite the tireless efforts of thousands of advocates and law enforcement officers alike, drunk driving continues to be one of America’s deadliest crimes. This operation will be conducted in an effort to reduce the incident of injuries, death, and property damage associated with the intoxicated drivers in this area. Harbor Division has experienced a 21 percent increase in Driving Under the Influence related traffic collisions in the year 2009 as compared to 2008. The saturation patrol will serve as a reminder to the community of Harbor Division to use designated drivers and not drink and drive.
Our message is simple: if we catch you driving drunk, you will be arrested!

The Officer-in-Charge is Sergeant Jon Aufdemberg of South Traffic Division’s Crime Task Force/Driving Under the Influence Enforcement Detail. Approximately six traffic enforcement motor officers, two collision investigation officers and one traffic enforcement sergeant from South Traffic Division will be involved in this operation.
