Friday, November 19, 1999
On Friday, November 19, 1999 at 3:30 P.M., due to an overwhelming request, officers will be holding a news conference to discuss a topic of human interest as to how they cared for an injured dog. The press conference will take place in front of Wilshire Community Police Station located at 4861 W. Venice Boulevard, Los Angeles.
Late Thursday Night, November 18, 1999, Officers Alonzo Howell and Vincenzo Marchese were in the area of Wilshire Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard when they observed an injured dog that appeared to have been struck by a car.
The officers attempted to aid the dog and notified the Animal Regulations Department but they were unable to respond to the officer’s request. Concerned for the dog’s safety and well being, the officers placed the dog into their patrol vehicle and transported the dog to Wilshire Community Station and cared for the dog until it could be placed in a shelter. The dog is still in the shelter due to his injuries.
