Los Angeles: Hollywood detectives are asking the public’s help in identifying a kidnap victim and her assailant. The apparent kidnapping was captured on video surveillance footage from a Hollywood apartment complex, located at 1420 North Alta Vista Boulevard.
The incident occurred last Thursday, May 26, 2005, at the Chateau Apartments, around 7:55 AM. A man can be seen on surveillance cameras approaching the front entry to the complex. He makes a call on his cell phone, and a few seconds later, a woman opens the security door from the inside.
The man pushes the woman down some steps, causing her to fall. The man and woman struggle again, which ends with the man picking up the woman and carrying her out of the camera’s view.
The apparent kidnapping went unreported until managers working at the complex viewed the surveillance tape at the end of the weekend. The tape was subsequently turned over to the police.
Detectives later found witnesses who observed the incident. Witnesses described the woman struggling to get out of the man’s car, and they may have heard a child crying inside the car.
The car was described as a tan or light colored older model, possibly a 4-door. The suspect is White, approximately 30 to 35 years old, with dark hair below his ears. He is 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs between 170 and 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark T-shirt and shorts.
The victim was a White female, about 30 years old, with light, shoulder-length hair. She is about 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 110 pounds. She was wearing a dark shirt and denim shorts.
