Updated: The officer involved in the below incident has been identified as Police Officer III John Pultz, Serial No. 34942.

North Hollywood: On Monday, January 5th around 7:30 a.m., officers from North Hollywood Division responded to a “Man with a Gun” radio call in the 3900 block of Fredonia Drive.

When they arrived, the officers were directed to the area where the suspect was last seen. As the officers approached the suspect’s last known location, they saw the suspect armed with a firearm. The suspect ran away from the officers and a search for the suspect began.

While searching for the armed suspect, a neighbor told the officers that the suspect entered a nearby home. Officers in the LAPD airship above also saw the suspect and confirmed his location. The officers from North Hollywood Division formed a perimeter and requested that personnel from the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) respond to the scene.

Members from SWAT, who assumed control of the incident were confronted by the armed suspect and an Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) occurred. The suspect was not struck by the gunfire and immediately surrendered without incident. No officers were injured and the suspect’s gun was recovered at scene.
