Securing the Cities

The City of Los Angeles and the Emergency Services Division, Securing the Cities was selected by the Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office (CWMD) to implement the Secure the Cities (STC) Initiative, a federally funded grant program from the Department of Homeland Security. As part of this Initiative, the STC was tasked with developing a vigorous Preventative Radiological Nuclear Detection Program to interdict the illicit transportation of radiological/nuclear materials and/or weapons within the region. As part of this program, the STC issues personal radiation detection equipment to Department personnel and provides related training.
