Rampart Detectives Investigate a Homicide

Los Angeles: Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the death of a male Hispanic that occurred yesterday afternoon.
On Thursday, May 12, 2005, at about 3:30 p.m., LAPD officers responded to a radio call of shots fired at 8 th and Bixel Street. A 30/32 year-old male Hispanic was located in a car suffering from a gunshot wound. A second male was also located in the vehicle with a gunshot wound.
The preliminary investigation revealed that both victims were passengers in a vehicle that was travelling eastbound on 7 th Street towards Bixel Street. A confrontation occurred between the suspect(s) and the occupants in the victims’ vehicle. As the vehicles came to a stop at the intersection, the suspect pointed a gun at the victims’ vehicle and fired several shots striking both passengers.
The suspects’ car was described as a 4-door beige unknown make or model. The suspects were described as four male Hispanics with shaved heads.
A second vehicle associated with the suspects was described a s a small black over red compact 2-door with old or dull paint. The occupants in the car were described as a male hispanic with a shaved head.
The motive for this shooting appears to be gang related.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital and the 30/32 year-old male died. His name is being withheld pending notification to his family.
