Los Angeles: On Saturday, August 18, 2001, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 1:00 P.M., Rampart Community Police Station will host a "Stop the Violence Community Block Party" on Lake Street between Olympic Boulevard and 11th Street. Rampart Community Police Station Captain, Michael Moore, and the Operation Support Division Captain, Douglas Shur, will attend the event and will be available to speak with community members regarding issues of concern in the area. Through these community block parties, the hard working, law-abiding residents in the community can meet their local police officers and realize a sense of empowerment in our mutual efforts to help combat and reduce the fear and incidence of crime.
The event is sponsored by the office of Councilperson Ed Reyes and there will be plenty of food and drinks available.
Volunteers and community members interested in getting further information are urged to contact Senior Lead Officer Teresa Velez, Rampart Area Community Relations at 213-509-5292.
