"Family Related Dispute Ends in Fatal Stabbing"
 
Los Angeles: On Sunday June 24, 2001, at approximately 2:00 A.M., Rampart Area Community Police Station patrol officers responded to a murder investigation in the 900 Block of N. Mariposa Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found Geyork Petikyan, a 38 year-old male Armenian, apparently lifeless and suffering from a stab wound to the upper torso. The investigation revealed Petikyan had gone to the suspect’s apartment and confronted him regarding family-related matters. An argument ensued which led to the fatal stabbing. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced Geyork Petikyan dead at the scene.
The suspect, Grigor Pstikyan, 52 years of age, was present at the scene of the crime and surrendered to police without further incident. The suspect and weapon are in custody. The motive for the stabbing is believed to be related to family issues regarding the men’s wives.
The investigation is being handled by Rampart Homicide Detectives.
