Victim is Fatally Stabbed over a Dispute

August 8, 1999, at approximately 12:10 am., witnesses observed the victim running southbound Bonnie Brae Street from the East/West alley, south of Sunset Boulevard. The victim was being chased by four to five male Hispanics 35 to 45 years of age. The victim was caught in front of the 1000 block of North Bonnie Brae, where the suspects began to assault the victim. The suspects then stopped their attack and fled westbound through the alley from which they came.Rescue Ambulance transported the victim to L.A.C.G.H. where the victim succumbed to a single stab wound he had received to the left side of his torso. The investigation revealed the dispute between the victim and the suspects began in the alley where the parties had been drinking beer. The nature of the dispute is unknown at this time. The suspects are believed to be local transients and day laborers who frequent the area of Sunset Boulevard and Alvarado Street both day and night. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.
