Chief of Police Initiates a Board of Inquiry to Investigate Rampart Area Community Police Station

Los Angeles Police Department Chief of Police Bernard C. Parks has announced the convening of an extensive Board of Inquiry. The Board, consisting of various Staff and Command Officers, and subject matter experts, will assess the totality of the corruption within the Rampart Area Community Police Station. The Board of Inquiry involves a very comprehensive process that will examine all relevant management issues regarding this matter.

The Board of Inquiry consists of seven sub-committees which will evaluate and address Issues of Supervision & Management; Department Operational Systems; Integrity; Officer-Involved-Shooting Protocol; the Department’s Use of Force Systems; Corruption Investigations; and an Analysis of the Work Product of the Involved Officers.

Chief Parks said, "I have the greatest confidence that the final product will provide valuable insight into the Rampart corruption incident and other important management issues. It is imperative that we conduct this inquiry as quickly and thoroughly as possible in order to determine the scope of the problem and institute corrective measures."

A Board of Inquiry is assembled for the purpose of investigating an alleged incident involving Department personnel or equipment.
