LAPD to Announce Results of Successful Burglary Prevention Program NA16046ml

March 22, 2016

WHAT: The LAPD will announce the results of ‘Ring Neighborhoods,’ a pilot program that partnered the community of Wilshire Park and the use of donated Ring Video Doorbells installed on residents’ homes.

WHEN: Thursday, March 24, 2016 3:00 p.m.

WHERE: LAPD Olympic Community Police Station 1130 South Vermont Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90006

WHO: Captain Vito Palazzolo, Olympic Division Captain Jonathan Tom, Rampart Division Senior Lead Officer Harris Cho, Olympic Division Jamie Siminoff, CEO and Chief Inventor of Ring

WHY: After noticing a spike in home burglaries, a pilot program paired the LAPD, residents in the Wilshire Park community and a smart security camera and doorbell that enabled users to monitor their property from anywhere. The pilot program, called ‘Ring Neighborhoods,’ showed the neighborhood where the security devices were used experienced a reduction in burglaries in the first six months of being installed. None of the residents that had a security device installed fell victim to a burglary.

Special thanks to Ring for donating the security devices which were used in the pilot program.
