WHY: The Los Angeles Police Department has developed the Indigenous Language Identification Card to assist officers in identifying an indigenous language during contacts with the public that are from various indigenous regions. This card will assist LAPD personnel in providing appropriate and effective communication during community contacts with non-English or limited English-speaking community members.

The information on the referenced card has been printed on a 3×5 inch laminated card for ease of use by officers in the field.
