2016 presented many challenges to the law enforcement profession and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).  Personnel shortages, budgetary restraints, and rising crime called for consistent and steady leadership on the part of our supervisors.   Tasha embraced each challenge, never wavering from the mission and task at hand.  Tasha cares about the well-being of her subordinates; likewise she holds them accountable for appropriate work performance.  It is maintaining this balance that makes Tasha such an outstanding supervisor and leader.  Throughout this year, Tasha has demonstrated a natural ability to counsel and mentor officers so that their performance can be improved and reinforced.

Tasha has an impeccable work ethic that transcends to the officers she supervises.  Tasha’s caring attitude is truly felt by the residents and is evident in her daily interactions with her peers, supervisors and residents alike within the South Los Angeles Community.  Undoubtedly, Tasha’s leadership plays a key role in the successful daily operations of South Traffic Division.

Tasha is an18-year veteran of the LAPD.  She is always the first to volunteer and step-up for any assignment.  She does not hesitate to assist officers and fellow supervisors with investigations and daily routine assignments. Tasha is often sought out by officers and fellow supervisors for advice and mentoring.  During all tactical situations, Tasha does not hesitate to take charge of the situation and her calm demeanor instills confidence in officers as she provides guidance and direction.  Her directions at fatal traffic collision scenes are clear and concise and her ability to manage and lead has contributed to the safe and successful conclusion to numerous fatality investigations.

Tasha is often tasked with assuming watch commander responsibilities in the absence of the Watch Commander.  Tasha does an outstanding job and is a dedicated supervisor who demonstrates her commitment daily.  She can be counted on by the Department and the residents of Los Angles to always do the right thing.

Sergeant Tasha Karandy is a tremendous asset to the South Traffic Division family and the command is a better place because of her work ethic and positive attitude.
