Three Children Missing After Double Homicide in Lower Baldwin Hills

Los Angeles: The bodies of an 83-year-old woman and her 51-year-old male caretaker were discovered in an apartment in the 3900 block of South Coco Avenue.

The victims were identified as Pauline Axel and Ellis Dunbar. Their bodies were discovered by a relative of Ms. Axel around 1:50 p.m., June 16, 2005. Detectives from the Southwest Police Station learned that screams had been heard around 11:00 a.m., coming from the apartment, and Ms. Axel’s granddaughter, Kenya Mabson, was seen leaving the vicinity with her children soon after the screams stopped.

The LAPD is asking the public’s assistance in locating Mabson and her three children ages 2, 4, and 5, to ensure their safety. Mabson had been staying in the apartment with her three children.

Kenya Hassan Mabson is considered a person of interest. She is Black and 30 years old. She is 5’3″ tall and weighs 125 pounds. She has shoulder-length hair, worn in dreadlocks. She was last seen wearing a tan, knitted knee-length dress and navy blue jacket. She may be staying with friends in the Little Ethiopia area of Los Angeles.

The children are described as:

2-year-old Abilah Johnson, male Black
4-year-old Jubree Johnson, male Black
5-year-old Jana Johnson, female Black
