Gang-Related Drive-By Shooting Claims One Juvenile and Injures A Second

Los Angeles – On Sunday, February 4, 2001, at approximately 10:30 P.M., a 17 year-old African-American female was preparing to board a friend’s vehicle at the 2900 block of Brighton Avenue, when an unidentified suspect(s), driving a black Chevrolet Camaro, drove by at a high rate of speed. Someone inside the Camaro fired several rounds striking the female juvenile.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. A second female juvenile victim was also wounded by the gunfire and is expected in stable condition. The names of the juvenile victims have not been released, due to their age.
The drive-by shooting appears to be gang-related. The suspect(s) and weapon remain outstanding.
