"Victim is Shot and Killed Half-a-Block Away From His Home"

Los Angeles – On Sunday, July 16, 2000, at approximately 7:50 p.m., the victim walked eastbound from his residence located in the 5500 block of Carlin Street, to the corner of Hauser Boulevard and Carlin Street. The victim was standing at the corner when unknown suspect(s) drove by in a tan or light brown vehicle, firing several shots from an unknown type handgun, striking the victim. He was transported to a local hospital where he died. The victim has been identified as Lloyd Perry, a male Black, 39 years old. There is no suspect description as this time.

The motive for this shooting appears to be gang-related, in retaliation for a shooting that occurred earlier in the afternoon on Hauser Boulevard, one block south of this location. There is no evidence to indicate the victim was involved in the earlier incident.
