Van Nuys – On Thursday, May 31, 2001, at approximately 11:50 p.m., a car containing four individuals was traveling eastbound on Vanowen Street approaching Van Nuys Boulevard. They were stopped at the traffic light when the suspects’ vehicle drove along side. The suspects yelled something and one of the suspects pointed an unknown caliber weapon in the direction of the victims’ vehicle. Multiple shots were fired into the victims’ vehicle. Three occupants in the vehicle were hit by gunshots. The driver of the victims’ vehicle managed to drive to a local hospital. Medical treatment was administered to the three gunshot wound victims. All three were admitted for non-life threatening injuries.
The suspects, described as three male Armenians in their late 20’s, fled the location in a dark color SUV. The motive for the shooting is possibly gang related.
