Murder-Suicide Investigation

December 3, 2003

Los Angeles: On Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at about 12:45 p.m., West Valley Area patrol officers responded to an "Ambulance Shooting," radio call in the 15700 Block of Ventura Boulevard in Encino. On arrival, the officers met a marriage counselor who informed them that he had been in a counseling session with a couple when the husband pulled out a handgun and threatened to kill his wife. As the counselor fled the office, he heard gunshots fired.
Upon further investigation, the officers discovered the body of a 51 year-old female lying on the floor. She had apparently sustained multiple stab wounds and a gunshot wound to the torso area. Also in the counselor’s office, lying on the couch, was the 57 year-old husband who had apparently shot himself in the head with a small caliber pistol. The husband was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries at about 2:25 p.m.
West Valley Homicide Detectives responded to the location and conducted their investigation. It was learned that the couple had been married for 33 years and that there was a history of domestic violence.
Further investigation revealed that the husband shot his wife then stabbed her several times in the body. Afterwards, he turned the gun on himself, taking his own life. The case is being handled as a murder/suicide.
The victim has been identified as 51 year-old Amanda Azar Enayati and the suspect/husband has been identified as 57 year-old Allen Enayati.
