Child Abduction Regional Emergency Parents Believed to have Fled to Mexico with Child NR10509kr

October 29, 2010

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the publics help in locating an 11-month-old child, believed to have been taken to Mexico by his parents.

On October 18, 2010, the parents of Yahir Martinez, (Yajaira Contreras and Nahun Martinez), had been ordered to appear in Children’s Court regarding the custody of their child.  Contreras and Martinez failed to appear for the court hearing and the judge awarded custody of Yahir to the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

When DCFS went to the home to take custody of the child, they discovered the entire family had fled to Mexico and had not been seen at their residence since October 13, 2010.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Yahir, Yajaira or Nahum is asked to contact the Department of Children Family Service 818-717-4046 or West Valley Juvenile Detectives at 818-374-7730.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crimestoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
