- The Los Angeles Police Department is committed to the fight against hate crimes. The Department has assigned hate crimes investigators at each of the 21 area stations. The Department hate crimes coordinator oversees each hate crimes investigation and assists at the State level in developing hate crime policy and training guidelines. The Police Department will vigorously investigate and bring any individuals or groups responsible for hate crimes to justice.
- If you are a victim of a hate crime, call or go to your nearest police station to report the crime. Any police officer can take a hate crime or hate incident report. The investigation will then be conducted by a detective that is assigned to handle hate crime cases.
- Hate crimes disrupt community order, hurt neighborhoods and individuals and will not be tolerated. The only way to conquer hate crime is by having every person get involved. Therefore, the Los Angeles Police Department encourages any citizen that has been a witness to a hate crime or hate incident to step forward and report the occurrence.
