Woman Shot and Killed, Motive Unknown

Los Angeles: On Monday, August 19, 2002, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Wilshire Area patrol officers responded to a "shots fired" radio call in the area of Sierra Bonita Avenue and San Vicente Boulevard. The officers arrived and discovered the body of an unidentified female Hispanic, 25 to 30 years of age, lying on the sidewalk, in front of 1156 Sierra Bonita Avenue. It appeared that she had been shot an unknown amount of times in the upper body with an unknown type of firearm.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by a Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Ambulance, where she was pronounced dead on August 20, 2002.
As of this press release, no suspect(s) have been identified.
The motive for this shooting is unknown at this time.
